Summary of the Role

Carnbrooke is a family-owned business, working from our facility in Lisburn operating a 2500 sq. ft Butchery & Food Hall and Food Service supplier to hotels and restaurants across NI. Due to continued expansion and the opening of our second butchery food hall in Dromore Co Down we are now in the position to advertise for a talented and enthusiastic Factory manager.

The successful Factory Manager will oversee the production facility ensuring the optimisation of output, cost and efficiency while minimising waste. You will ensure customer expectations are met on time and in full and strive to meet Key Performance Indicators.

Main Duties:
  • Delivery of excellent service and maintaining high standards within the factory
  • Implement daily, weekly and monthly production plans to meet the needs of the business.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring appropriate plans are in place and implemented to deliver peak production activity requirements
  • Scale workforce up and down to meet the changing needs of sales and to maximise labour utilisation ensuring labour budget adherence.
  • Lead and control all monthly stocktakes
  • Liaise with Purchasing, intake and Supervisors to ensure the smooth flow of product into out of the factory.
  • Advise quality assurance managers on suitability of materials and packaging.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of equipment and minimise downtime.
  • Develop more efficient work methods to improve production efficiencies and reduce labour costs and waste.
  • Suggest production methods for potential new products, co-ordinate factory trials working closely with NPD and ensure smooth transition into full production.
  • Act as key holder, opening and closing site, ensuring all security checks completed.
People Management
  • Develop a culture where employee engagement and communication are promoted and actively delivered.
  • Set clear objectives for the production team particularly supervisors with respect to daily volume, cost, quality and meeting schedules and delivery dates.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection of factory staff.
  • Carry out individual staff performance reviews and address and identify training and developmental needs including return to works
  • Plan staff training and ensure that accurate training records are maintained.
  • Manage and plan all production staff holidays and cover.
  • Assist HR with absence management including ensuring Return to Work meetings, Attendance Reviews and Disciplinaries are carried out by you and your team.
  • To carry out Investigations and Disciplinaries with staff in conjunction with HR.
  • Ensure all new starts are trained to Carnbrooke standards, using company training induction plan.
Health and Safety
  • Deliver Health and Safety targets and accountabilities on the site and become directly involved in initiatives to reduce accidents. Manage all health and safety issues relating to the area.
  • Report and help resolve any issues with buildings, machinery or systems holding back production.
  • Ensure the factory is clean and tidy in line with the Company’s Hygiene standards.
Quality:
  • Ensure that finished product meets customer specifications and standards.
  • Ensure that finished product labelling and pack weights meet legal requirements.
  • Ensure that all production and quality records are maintained and are reviewed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Liaise with Quality Managers to ensure consistent product quality and minimise complaints.
  • Carry out internal audits as required
  • Plan staff training and ensure that accurate training records are maintained.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Director or Operations Manager
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Minimum 3 years production management experience in a food production environment
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage teams
  • Excellent communication skills- written & oral
  • Strong line management people skills
  • Energetic, with ability to make effective decisions, in a fast-paced environment

Experience
