Summary of the Role

The Kitchen Assistant is a core member of the production team, packaging a range of high quality and creative dishes to Carnbrooke high standards for sale to both retail and wholesale customers.

You will follow production schedules outlined by the production manager on a day-to-day basis. This includes preparing the workstations, as well as packaging food products. You are expected to clean as you go, operate packaging equipment as per defined Standard Operating Procedures. You are also expected to apply food production standards related to Safety and Hygiene policies and procedures set out by the Quality Assurance Department.

All training will be provided to give you the confidence to carry out your job to the best of your ability and the Carnbrooke standard.

Main Duties:
  • Weigh, pack and label all food to Carnbrooke standards, ensuring consistent high quality.
  • Ensure adherence to standardised specifications as approved by line manager.
  • Follow instructions in relation to packaging products, from cooling to packaging stage.
  • Ensure shelf life procedures are strictly adhered to and all protocols followed.
  • Follow and understand order sheets for Wholesale/Retail customers.
  • Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in daily preparation
  • Accurately and timely complete all required documentation to ensure clear traceability.
  • Ensure HACCP procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to, traceability checks, temperature checks, cleaning schedules and food safety procedures.
  • Maintain high levels of personal hygiene to ensure production of high-quality products.
  • Communicate with other departments, in particular kitchen
  • Assist in keeping all cooking utensils, equipment, and work areas clean, tidy, and well presented.
  • Report equipment defects to Line Manager and initiate repairs as required.
  • Follow stock rotation procedures.
  • Maintain a safe food environment within your department, complying with health and safety regulations, internal & external audit requirements.
